BURN THIS RECORDS releases COMEDIAN Andy erikson’s
corn dogs unleashed!
Erikson’s second album is a triumphant return to minneapolis’ legendary acme comedy club
LOS ANGELES — Burn This Records is thrilled to be releasing Andy Erikson’s second album Corn Dogs Unleashed!
Known for her star turns on Last Comic Standing & Scream Queens, Minnesota native Andy Erikson decided a homecoming was in order for her sophomore album.
“Acme Comedy Co is my home club, and the first place I ever performed comedy. It’s where my first album, Secret Unicorn was also recorded. It’s where I’ve drank more Bud Light Limes than I can count, and eaten more grilled cheese sandwiches than is legally allowed in most states. The next time I work there though, I’m going to insist they add corn dogs to the menu. Or I might just sell corn dogs as merch after my set. Stay tuned!”
Recorded in May of 2023, Andy was opening for the wonderful Jimmy Pardo, who can be heard in the album’s epic intro. She actually surprised Jimmy and jumped out on stage while he was performing to ask him if he could record an intro for the record. Erikson recalls, “He was quite startled by my interruption, but ultimately had a pretty great time razzing me for my inappropriate boldness, and recorded an epic intro right there on stage. “
Andy Erikson covers a wide range of material on this album, including carefully crafted one-liners about fancy dogs that she has been tweaking for almost a decade, as well as jokes that were literally written on stage as she described her experience of flying to Minneapolis with a stuffed animal in an animal carrier. “I have cute and clean jokes, medium spicy jokes, and I say butthole at least once. So there’s definitely something for everyone in this album.”
Burn This Records founder and president Brandie Posey saw many of the hallmarks she looks for in a Burn This artist in Erikson.
“Andy has always made me laugh & I think she has such a unique, refreshing yet timeless voice in comedy. She has been amazing to work with & I am so excited for everyone to hear this record.” Posey said.
Andy knows people might be wondering about the title. “Yes, I technically don’t have any jokes about corn dogs in the album… So wondering about the title is definitely valid. Well it’s a simple explanation. I was inspired by a great man who once said, ‘Andy, one day you’ll be living a fast paced life in a fancy city and your days will start to blur together as more time passes. So promise me this. Promise me, that you won’t keep your corn dogs leashed up. Promise me, that your corn dogs will always be unleashed.’ And after I finished nodding, and the tears on my face had dried, I thanked that man, got off the bus, and walked three blocks over to a Poke stop to try and catch a Bulbasaur. Yep. Most of that is true.”
Andy brings her talents back to ACME Comedy Club yet again over Thanksgiving weekend. When asked what she was thankful for this year, Andy had quite the list:
Corn Dogs
Squirrels
Candy
My Husband
Stuffed Animals
My Family
Kittens
Chicken nuggets
Freedom
Survivor the TV show
Sparkly shoelaces
Glow in the dark stars that stick to the ceiling
Airfryer technology
My friends
Outerspace
Democratic Socialism
Heart medicine
My record label: Burn This Records
Nerds candy clusters
Glasses
Healthcare
And lastly, sportsmanship as a concept
And friendship bracelets
And tiny wooden spoons for ice cream
And oxygen
And lastly for real, I’m thankful for people and things that don’t get offended for being left out of lists of things I’m thankful for.
Ultimately, Andy just hopes people listen to this album and feel a little more whimsical and silly. “I hope people connect with the awkward choices I make and the inappropriate things I think and say, and embrace their own quirks… I just want everyone to have a good time. Escape from the daily grind for a bit and think about the anatomy of the teenage mutant ninja turtles.”
Corn Dogs Unleashed! will be available for presale 11/25 on iTunes, Amazon & Bandcamp - and available everywhere 12/6.
